AC Shelby Cobra 427 1967 - CSX 3343 - Ex. Colonel Loren Pearson - beautiful historic period car - meticulously maintained - 12 months warranty
- Left the Shelby America factory on 28 November 1966 and sent to the Jack Loftus Ford dealership in Hinsdale, Illinois on 26 October 1967,
- Purchased new by Colonel Loren Pearson at the end of 1967 who lived in Kansas (USA),
- Purchased by the MOR Car Collection LA (USA) in 1973,
- Purchased by Danny Donegan (UK) in 1989,
- Purchased by Frank Sytner (UK) in 1993,
- Purchased by Charles Howard (Germany) via Coys Auction on 24 July 1993,
- Purchased by the current owner from The Car Experience (USA) in 2017,
CSX 3343 was delivered new from the factory in Guardsman Blue with a black interior and fitted with a 427 V8 with a single 4V carburettor.
The first owner, Colonel Pearson, modified the Cobra as an SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Series A racing car. A full-width black roll bar, mounted behind the seats with two rearward braces through the rear bonnet, was fitted along with a bonnet air intake, custom oil cooler, Halbrand 7.2*5/9.5* wheels, white side exhausts and a 427 racing engine block.
Most often used as number 51, it remained “Guardsman” blue with “Pearson” lettering just above and behind the side windows.
The car raced and took class wins at Hutchinson, Kansas and Castle Rock, Colorado (among others). In 1971 it was eliminated at the ARRC (with similar results in 1973 and 1974).
In 1989, CSX 3343 underwent a physical inspection by Dave Dralle of Dralle Engineering (Torrance, California). Mr Dralle stated that it was the original race car that had been built in 1966 at AC Cars. Dave Dralle is the official Cobra expert for the SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club).
Danny Donegan bought it at the end of 1989 and shipped it to Europe, where it was restored for 18 months, repainted in blue with stripes and a competition fuel cap.
Registered NAL 47E, it was then sold in Europe in 1993 to Frank Syner. He presented it at the Cosy auction at Silverstone, where Charles Howard bought it.
In 2017, we found the car at The Car Experience (Miami, FL), where the owner bought it in turn and brought it back to France. The car is now registered in France and has been meticulously maintained.
