Beschreibung
The origins of the Norton Commando can be traced back to the late 1940s when the Model 7 Twin was first launched. The parallel twin-cylinder design evolved into the 650 cc Dominator and 750 cc Atlas before being launched as the 750 cc Commando in 1967. The first model introduced at London’s 1967 Earls Court Show was the unusually styled Commando Fastback, and the model was improved upon until it was discontinued at the end of 1975. The Commando retained Norton’s sturdy and powerful twin-cylinder engine but utilized a new “Isolastic” anti-vibration system, helping isolate the engine from the frame, making for a far smoother and more pleasant riding experience.
The consignor purchased this bike in January 2016 and had OCD Custom Cycles of Santa Fe, New Mexico complete an inspection and perform service work. Service included a fluid flush, new plugs, filters, and fuel lines, the adjustment of the timing and carburetors, and work to the braking system, among other items. Finished in the iconic and handsome Commando color scheme of black with gold lettering, and fitted with the higher capacity interstate fuel tank, this is an attractive example of one of the best riding British motorcycles of the 1970s.
