Beschreibung

c.1970 Kegler 250cc Racing Motorcycle

Aeronautical engineer Horst Kegler founded his eponymous company in 1932 in Nuremberg, subsequently moving to Hilpoltstein after the original factory was destroyed in WW2. Still in business today, the firm specialised in producing high-precision components for the automobile and aeronautical industries. The machine offered here was built to accommodate Kegler's patented 'three-stroke' engine, a hybrid that combined the two-stroke's crankcase induction and transfer ports with the overhead poppet valves of a four-stroke. Patented in the early 1950s and believed built in 1954, the twin-cylinder engine (reportedly one of only two) is housed in a modified Aermacchi Ala d'Oro racing chassis dating from circa 1970. Offered with a display board of information, the machine is presented in racing trim but nothing is known of its history.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
