The designation of Z 900 was used from 1976 to 1977, for the 4th series of the Kawasaki 900 Z1, with chassis numbers from "Z1F 85701" and engine numbers from Z1E 86001 ". To comply with US anti-pollution standards, the engine is reduced at 81 HP and equipped with 26 mm carburetors.The braking system has two lightened discs at the front and extended ratios thanks to the smaller diameter crown.
The arrangement of the warning lights is also changed and the lock is added to the tank cap.
