Mythical bike

Since the Cucciolo 50 of 1945, Ducati has deeply marked the history of motorcycles. Even more so from 1955, with the legendary desmodromic engines developed by engineer Fabio Taglioni. In 1961, the brand presented its first "civilian" big single-cylinder motorcycle, the 250 Diana Mk 3, followed in 1968 by the first road bike equipped with a "desmo" engine, the 250 Mk 3 D, which was soon available in 350 and 450cc. The Desmo road bike was also fitted with pin springs and, from 1973, a double drum front brake (a disc was also available, which became standard after 1974). Production of this legendary bike, which saw the debut of many riders, ended in 1975, when Ducati switched to twin-cylinder engines.
The 350 Mk 3 we present, with its beautiful patina, was prepared as “in period” to compete in historic races and demonstrations. It is equipped with quality parts, including Borrani rims, Tommaselli controls and a Veglia rev counter. Fitted with a classic cylinder head, the Desmo cylinder head is nevertheless part of a small set of parts that comes with the machine, along with the originals stand, Dell'Orto carburettor and exhaust pipe. Not started for a few years, it will need to be restarted before it can be enjoyed by its future owner, on the road or on the track.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, on June the 20th, 2021.
