BMW R90S 67CV 1974 - The BMW Motorrad R90S was launched on the market in 1973, when the European motorcycle industry was under strong threat from Japan. The Boxer engine that powered the R90S retained air cooling, but had a displacement of 898cc. It was basically the evolution of the R75/5 engine, refined with Dell'Orto carburetors, a redesigned exhaust line to increase power and a five-speed gearbox, in order to be able to cope with the competition. Thus, the 67 horsepower produced, very respectable for the time, was able to propel the R90S to an equally exciting top speed of around 200 km/h. Cycling was also improved with the addition of twin 260 mm disc brakes at the front and a 200 mm drum and a gross weight of just 215 kg in running order, and the whole set-up proved to be irreproachably reliable, proven by the fact that, even today, there are a few units in perfect condition and ready to do even more kilometers.
