The company Aermacchi was created in 1913 by Giulio Macchi under the name Società Anonima Nieuport-Macchi, it was specialized in aviation and played an important role in the Italian aviation history. In addition to design seaplanes, fighter jets and military training planes, the company took an interest to motorcycles between the 50s and the 70s. In April 1960, Aermacchi went under Harley Davidson control and the factory moved a few kilometers to Schiranna close to Varese. The brand name became Aermacchi Harley-Davidson, then AMF Harley-Davidson until 1978 when the factory was sold to Castiglioni brothers who developed their own brand: Cagiva.

Our wonderful Aermacchi Harley-Davidson 250 was born around 1966 as an Ala Verde and modified to Ala d’Oro Racing specifications. Its air-cooled mono-cylinder engine develops 30 horsepower at 9500 rpm for a top speed above 200 km/h. As a competition bike it is not road-registered, it comes from an Italian collector. Nicely conserved and in perfect condition, this unit is an exceptional piece of history for vintage races.

En plus de concevoir des hydravions, des chasseurs et des avions d’entrainement militaire, l’entreprise s’est intéressée à la fabrication de motos des années 1950 jusqu’aux années 70. En avril 1960, Harley-Davidson pris le contrôle d’Aermacchi et l’usine fut déplacée de quelques kilomètres jusqu’à Schiranna près de Varese. Le nom de la marque devint Aermacchi Harley-Davidson puis AMF Harley-Davidson jusqu’en 1978 lorsque l’usine fut vendue aux frères Castiglioni qui développèrent leur propre marque : Cagiva.

Notre magnifique Aermacchi Harley-Davidson 250 est née autour de 1966 en tant que Ala Verde puis modifiée en version Ala d’Oro Racing. Son moteur monocylindre refroidi par air développe 30 chevaux à 9500 tours par minute pour une vitesse de pointe au delà des 200 km/h. En tant que machine de compétition celle-ci n’est pas homologuée pour un usage routier, elle provient d’un collectionneur italien. Joliment conservée et en parfait état, cet exemplaire chargé d’histoire est l’idéal pour un amateur de course d’anciennes ou simplement à admirer dans son salon.
