For 2012, Ralph Lauren has introduced new interpretations, sizes and finishes to its range of timepieces. In the Slim Classique Collection, for example, there’s an Art Deco theme with lavish diamond-set styling, while the Stirrup Collection describes a series of highly luxurious ladies’ timepieces.
But we’ve picked a watch from the Ralph Lauren Sporting Collection, a range which celebrates “the spirit of motorsports and outdoor adventure” through the use of such features as racing stripe bracelets and a new gunmetal steel finish.
Our chosen watch is the 45mm Safari RL67, with a mechanical, self-winding movement made for Ralph Lauren by Jaeger-LeCoultre. A bold face features luminescent white Roman numerals on a matte black face, with just the bright orange of the second hand to bring colour. The brushed stainless steel case hints at the sporting ambitions of this watch, while the strap reflects the ‘Safari’ name, being of olive-green weathered canvas, backed by a black leather lining.
