11/11/2011 'Art Deco in the Alps II': A collection of original limited-edition posters
Portes du Soleil: 'Skier in Flight'
Courchevel: 'Last run down'
Switzerland: 'Winter Sports in Switzerland'
Pullman Editions has produced a further six posters in its ‘Art Deco Winter Sports’ collection of newly commissioned artworks. The jet-set resorts of Les Trois Vallées, Portes du Soleil, Klosters, Megève and Courchevel, together with a generic ‘Winter Sports in Switzerland’, join the 24 other, Art Deco-inspired works.
Each poster is limited to just 280 editions, hand-numbered and embossed with the Pullman Editions stamp of authenticity. The market for original winter sports posters is well known, with a good example fetching five-figure sums either at auction or in a gallery. As these are all original artworks, accomplished in the style of the period on high-quality 100% cotton fine art paper, they represent an opportunity to own a perfect example of the genre at a considerably more accessible price of £395.00 each.
And for those with chalets in locations such as Courchevel and Megève, which didn’t exist as resorts in that golden, inter-war period, Pullman has done you all a service by commissioning artist Katrine Köhli to create evocative images in the style of the time.
Megève: 'Catch me if you can'
Klosters: 'Snowballing Girl'
Trois Vallées: 'Ski Les Trois Vallées'
Likewise Charles Avalon’s 'Ski Les Trois Vallées', a high-speed celebration of the resorts that exploded in popularity in the 60s.
The posters are all large-format (approximately 100cm x 65cm, or 40in x 26in), the same size as those in period, and can be ordered online at www.pullmaneditions.com.
Alternatively, a visit to Pullman Editions’ 94 Pimlico Road, London SW1W 8PL gallery will enable collectors to order bespoke framing, and also view the complete collection.
