04/11/2011 SalonQP, 10-12 November 2011: The London watchmaking fair
Attention, enthusiasts of all things horological, there’s still time left to book tickets for SalonQP, London’s finest event for the watch collector.
Having enjoyed two highly successful visits to One Marylebone, the Sir John Soane-designed period building on Marylebone Road, in 2011 SalonQP moves up a gear and will be located at The Saatchi Gallery in Duke of York's HQ, King's Road, Chelsea.
On show will be the latest watches from luxury brands including: A. Lange & Söhne, Baume and Mercier, Bell & Ross, Bremont, Bulgari, Bulova, Cartier, Chronoswiss, Corum, Daniels London, Frédérique Constant, Girard-Perregaux, Graham, Harry Winston, Hermès, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, John C. Taylor, Manufacture Royale, Maurice Lacroix, Meccaniche Veloci, Montblanc, Nomos Glashütte, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Smith, TAG Heuer, U-Boat, Vacheron Constantin, Watches of Knightsbridge and Zenith.
In addition, Bonhams normally has a selection of forthcoming entries to its traditional pre-Christmas sales (22 November in Knightsbridge and 14 December in New Bond Street). And for those of you fascinated by the incredible process of putting together all those tiny pieces into a highly accurate mechanical timepiece, you can see Swiss watchmakers in action, as well as attend lectures and debates. There’s also the chance to take part in a watchmaking masterclass hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Just remember not to sneeze over the shoulder of the instructor as he carefully puts that very last hairspring in place.
I’ve been to SalonQP every year and thoroughly enjoyed every one. I am sure you will, too.
The 2011 salon QP will be held at The Saatchi Gallery, Duke of York's HQ, King's Road, London SW3 4SQ. Exhibition opening hours:
