One-Off Ferrari SP12 EC: In honour of Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton, the great musician and ardent Ferrari enthusiast, has spoken about the one-off car that has been produced as a homage to his career and long-term Ferrari ownership. His comments are published in the latest issue of the Ferrari Official Magazine, with Clapton talking in detail about his passion for the marque and how the idea of a one-off car was born.

Designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and the engineers from Maranello, the SP12 EC – EC for Eric Clapton – is part of Ferrari’s One-Off Programme. According to Ferrari, meticulous attention has been paid to the proportions and architecture of the SP12 EC, which has been inspired not only by the world-famous guitar player himself, but also by the model of Ferrari he particularly admires, and of which he has owned three examples over the years: the 512 BB. Other influences on the car include the magnificent 458 Italia.

Says Ferrari of the project: “Just like music is created, applying the right notes in the right places to build a musical score, so was the creative process behind the SP12 EC.”
