| The reference ''RS'' will quicken the pulse of Porsche connoisseurs. Models such as the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 of 1972, the 1991 964 911 RS, the 2004 996 GT3 RS and the 2007 997 GT3 RS are all normally aspirated sports cars that stand out on account of their extreme degree of maneuverability and handling. The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS is the original RS Porsche; a lightweight car that was designed by Porsche to be as light and fast as possible. The values of the now iconic original examples have soared in recent years making them totally out of reach for many. The car that we offer for sale here is a superb replica built with the original cars being used as inspiration but at the same time being refined and developed to make it "even better than the original". The car is based on an LHD 1972 2.4 T and today is built to mimic a 2.8 RSR, but with some subtle differences! Brought to the UK in the 1980's this car was campaigned in the Porsche historic championships as a 2.7 RS replica for a number of years with some notable success. From the late 90's onwards it has been used mainly as a road car but in 2008 a major rebuild was executed by a known specialist and at this time it evolved into its current specification. The bodywork has been modified using lightweight panels all round to 2.8 RSR specifications. It is fitted with a full but non intrusive roll cage and comfortable "safari" bucket seats with headrests and four point harnesses. The engine was rebuilt in 2008 to 3.2 Litres with a whole host of new competition spec parts. The motor is thought to produce just shy of 300 bhp (from paperwork supplied in the file). The brakes and suspension have also been extensively upgraded and make the ideal balance for fast road or light track use. As a final note, the exhaust benefits from being an RSR style pair of megaphones that create an unbeatable and most pleasing soundtrack! The car is presented in superb condition and is ready to use and enjoy. It is also accompanied by a more than comprehensive history file backing up the thousands that have been spent in recent times and over the years.
