Since Iam interested in Classic Cars, my father told me always that he once wanted to own a Bristol 411. As he is always telling me, a Bristol is a car which is only appreciated by the people who understands everything about classic cars. It has everything it needs to have. The space inside for the whole family, a very big and reliable engine, the looks of a car which is not often recognized by people because of its rarity and if one do some research how these cars are built, then it is directly clear why I have to agree with my father that this is indeed a very rare car. The rarity of the Bristol starts with the body as it is completely made out of aluminium. The Series III which is although the specialists the best of the 411 series is very difficult to find in these days as they are bought by Bristol cars so that they can convert them into the Series 6 Models which are still for sale and are sold as new. Actually what Bristol cars is doing, is take a Series III as a base car, strip this completely and make it better then new with improvements from these days. People can drive in timeless style and grace with a classic looking car with brand new technology. But finding a Series III is makes it even harder because of the series 6 and The Bristol 411 was introduced in 1969 and should be available for 6 years, which was the longest period that a Bristol was newly available. The Bristol 411 was subtly but sensibly refined in succeeding years. Late 1970 brought a Mark 2 version with automatic self-levelling rear suspension, achieved via load-sensitive compensating struts powered by an engine-driven hydraulic pump. The big V-8 already drove the power steering and still-optional air conditioning, but it was designed for this sort of workload and didn't mind the extra job. Wider wheels all-round accompanied this upgrade. As if to return to its two-year cycle, Bristol launched the Bristol 411 Mk 3 in 1972, marked by a lower-profile nose with very powerful seven-inch-diameter quad headlamps (replacing the familiar dual head/driving lamps foursome) mounted horizontally in an oval cavity either side of a square grille. A slim paint stripe replaced the previous front-fender chrome trim, though side panel moldings remained. At the rear were no fewer than four exhaust outlets, the result of minor tuning changes. But the Mk 3 didn't last long, because in 1973 the MK4 was introduced. ?It was quite clear, my father wanted to have a MK3 as this had the nicest front nose. By coincidence a gentlemen who my father knows for quite a long time wanted to sell his Bristol 411 and this was a series III. So finally we had a Bristol 411 in the collection. It is actually crazy that one can buy these cars which have everything in it for relative low prices. When new, these cars were more expensive then an Aston Martin or a Rolls Royce, but now it is possible to drive this unique cars for the price of an Austin Healey 100-6 or a Jaguar MKII. The technical condition of this Bristol is excellent, except the rear axle which is now being completely rebuild by a specialist as it gives a noise. Engine wise the car is impressive. The power and the sound are excellent. The interior of the Bristol has been completely overhauled except the wood which is still in a nice condition. The color is dark blue which is very nice in combination with the dark blue exterior color. Looking at the paintwork, one could decide to respray the car as it has some spots which do not belong on such a rare car.
