| One of the greatest post-war sports cars, Jaguar's E-Type caused a sensation on its Geneva Show debut, with all the promise of its looks confirmed by a 150mph top speed and 0-60mph and 0-100mph in 6.9 and 16.2 seconds respectively; fast indeed and combined superb road holding with remarkable docility. The first Lightweight E-Types were roadsters fitted with a hardtop, which wasn't the most aerodynamic. For the 1964 Le Mans race, Jaguar engineer Malcolm Sawyer developed a new coupe body designed by Dr. Samir Klat and specifically designed for the long straights. These 'Low Drag Coupes' featured a completely new rear end and also a slightly revised nose. 1991 WK is believed to be the first of only 3 created in the early 90s by Bryan Wingfield of specialists DRL Engineering of Chelmsford Essex, on behalf of the previous owner. Of the other two created, one was for Bryan himself and the other for Anthony Bamford. Included in the file, are significant bills, trim and carpet samples, receipts and correspondence from Bryan Wingfield to the then owner. Finished to an exacting specification, the straight six engine is balanced and blue printed and fitted with triple Weber carburettors producing in the region of 300bhp. The car was created with fast road touring in mind and inside the cockpit the interior is finished in tan leather with full race harnesses. Alongside the considerable invoices from DRL, a V5 document, old MoT certificates as well as a buff log book and a current MoT certificate are also included. Finished in metallic green and in fabulous condition, 1991 WK represents an extremely competent racing/sports car of superb build quality with considerable power and is perfect for both historic racing and fast road use. A big cat in wolfs clothing.
