The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. A combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing.In period, a Ferrari cost three times more and supplied less horse power which established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The model became a great success for Jaguar, with more than 70,000 E-Types being sold during its lifespan. On its release, Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made".
The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3". A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known, unofficially, as "Series 1½".
Series 2 E types can be identified by their open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators under the heavier bumpers, tail lights below the rear bumper, better cooling aided by an enlarged mouth, twin electric fans and uprated brakes. De-tuned in the US, but still with triple SUs in the UK, the engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a ribbed appearance (this feature can also be seen on late Series 1 1/2 models). The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with flick switches being substituted by rocker switches to meet U.S Federal health and safety regulations. New seats were fitted for improved comfort. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. The Series 2 E type was available in FHC, OTS and 2+2 versions.
This FHC example has amazingly had just one owner form new until very recently. It is presented in outstanding condition having won numerous concours competitions in the past. The car benefits from a fresh retrim by Suffolk and Turley . A truly excellent example.
