In the midst of the Great Depression, GM looked for ways to generate sales volume for LaSalle and, indirectly, Cadillac. From 1934-1936 they powered LaSalle with an inline eight-cylinder engine many felt was sourced from Oldsmobile (shades of the 1970 s) but in 1937 GM returned LaSalle to its roots and rightful powerplant, the 322 cubic inch 125hp V-8 used in the 1936 Cadillac Series 60. Other changes included a new hypoid rear axle, front suspension stabilizer bar and a new steering box. Consumers acceptance of the LaSalle as a baby Cadillac was apparent when production more than doubled in 1937 from 1936. This 1937 four-door sedan is finished in light green with grey cord upholstery and equipped with hubcaps, trim rings, wide whitewall tires, Unity fog lights, grille guard and robe rail. The all-steel bodywork has four side windows including the ventipanes and opening rear quarter windows and a split rear window. The interior is outfitted with a heater and clock. It has recently been thoroughly restored to very attractive condition and appearance. Paint, chrome and interior are uniformly very good and highly presentable. Rarely seen, this is an enjoyable family car that will be proudly toured or just used on weekend jaunts.
