Proteus C-type, tribute to a Le Mans winner

Imagine designing and building a car for the simple purpose of winning the Le Mans 24-Hour race. Crazy or a stroke of genius? The latter, of course. This French racing classic garnered much publicity, even in the United States, where Jaguar wanted to sell many cars. The plan, conceived during the early 1950’s, succeeded. These spectacular C-types were victorious in their 1951 debut and in 1953, when they were the first racing cars fitted with disc brakes. The Jaguar brand was definitively linked, not only to luxury, but to sportiness.

All-in-all, Jaguar built 52 C-types between 1951 and 1953. Ownership of such a famous and rare care was reserved for a select few – then and now.

The only alternative that offers the same raw sensations as a genuine C-type is a true-to-life replica. And this car is exactly that. It’s a C-type built by Noble House with the British Proteus nameplate. It’s a car that, according to experts, feels, drives, smells and sounds like the real thing. And you can drive away in it anytime.

Proteus C-type – in detail

This car was built by Noble House on behalf of Proteus Cars England. The car’s colour, Ecosse Blue Metallic, has historic significance. It’s the official Scottish racing colour that adorned the winning C-type in 1953. The Proteus was intended for the German market and is therefore a left-hand drive car. As is the case with the legendary original, the coachwork is made of aluminium, while the interior is fully finished in leather.

It’s very difficult to distinguish the Proteus C-type from an original C-type. The arched bonnet hides a powerful version of Jaguar’s classic XK engine. Its 4.2 litre displacement generates ample output, providing the lightweight Proteus with phenomenal acceleration. The sensation of driving this car is paired with the unmistakable six-cylinder grunt that is synonymous with this powerful racing car.

With only the delivery mileage on its odometer, this C-type can immediately take part in international classic car rallies. Something else that makes this a unique offer is the fact that this car already has an historic (German) registration plate. As a result of amended legislation throughout Europe, newly built cars like the Proteus C-type can no longer be provided with historic vehicle registration plates. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to secure this stunning tribute to a legendary Le Mans winner.
