| Aston Martin V8, the powerful understatement As of September 1969, Aston Martin’s brand new V8 engine was fitted to the elegant coachwork of the six-cylinder Aston Martin DBS, introduced two years earlier. Displacing 5.3 litres, the alloy engine offered massive performance. With more than 300 bhp, the DBSV8, later named the Aston Martin V8, emphatically announced its arrival into a select group of elite automobiles. Aston Martin manufactured the V8 from 1972 to 1989 and, during this period, released various versions. This Aston Martin V8 is a Series III, which is characterised by its slightly raised bonnet that provides space for four double Weber carburettors that boost output to 310 bhp. The car is also instantly recognisable by the extra spotlights mounted in front of the grille. Only 967 Series III cars were manufactured between 1973 and 1978. This makes every Aston Martin V8 a particularly exclusive and rare find. He was the first of nine owners seduced by this beautiful Aston Martin. The good news is that the identities of all the owners are known. Such details greatly contribute to the prestige of a classic automobile as significant as this V8 Series III. Even better news is that its full service history is also known. Its previous owners all contributed to the car’s documentation, which has carefully been kept together in a thick file. This documentation includes Aston Martin Service Vouchers and M.O.T certificates for the car as of 1981. These documents support the current low odometer reading of only 64,252 miles.
