Offered here is an especially rare and early production cabriolet; as one of only 328 units produced in 1954, very few authentic examples exist today. 60439 has been beautifully maintained while under the attention of the previous longtime California caretaker and remains a fantastic example of one of the few privileged open 356s eligible for such important driving events as the Mille Miglia, Colorado Grand, and other vintage automotive venues around the world. This original bent-window recently received a complete engine, transmission and brake overhaul by the celebrated specialists at California Porsche Restoration in Fallbrook, CA at a cost of over $14,000 (completed 2012). Finished in a driver s quality, but very presentable yellow paintwork, the exterior features a black canvas top, bumper overriders, luggage rack and stone guards. Proper chrome vented wheels with baby moon caps complete the ensemble. Original optional equipment includes: Hirschmann antenna, electric windshield wiper, Bosch trumpet horn, Petri wheel. All body panels are matching and original 39 which indicates the last two digits of the VIN number are found stamped on the front bonnet hinge as well as the rear deck lid. The cabin is excellent overall, with tidy trim and carpets, beautifully reupholstered by Autos International in complimenting green leatherette. The rare Petri steering wheel with Sun &, Moon horn button, usually seen on coach built autos of the period offers a unique touch.
