911 Carrera |
 |
After
four years in production, Porsche is improving its already successful
design and will be presenting the second generation of the Carrera
996 series with a new engine and a more dynamic look. Both the 911
Carrera coupé and cabriolet as well as the two Carrera 4 versions
will be adopting the headlamp design of the 911 Turbo. The Carrera
looks considerably more powerful thanks to the newly designed front-end,
where the air intakes have been modified to increase cooling for
the engine, which is some 200 cc larger than its predecessor...

911 GT2 |
 |
The
GT has a tradition at Porsche. The early 70’s saw the launch of
the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, which was to lay the foundation for the
class of sports cars suitable both for motor racing and road usage.
The first 911 GT2 released in 1994 was hugely successful both on
the racing track at Daytona and on local roads. The new GT2, based
on the 911 Turbo (type 996), now ranks - as the most powerful road-going
Porsche of all times – in pole position of the vehicle range...

Carrera GT |

The
Carrera GT, the new Porsche sports car study now ready for possible
series production, was presented to the public for the first time
at "Mondial 2000", this year's Paris Motor Show. With its remarkable
performance, this state-of-the-art sports car, developed at the
Porsche R&D centre in Weissach, enters completely new dimensions,
pushing forward all the existing boundaries of modern sports car
manufacturing...

550 A |
 |
The
firm of Porsche was barely four years old when it brought out a
lightweight two-seater spyder to represent it in the racing sector.
Baptised the 550, this car was the first intimation of the marque’s
ambitions. It was developed in time for the first world championship
for Marques in autumn 1952, when the class or category wins of the
356s was no longer enough for Ferry Porsche. Especially as ever
fiercer competition was bound to make the 356 suffer, however much
it progressed....

904 GTS |
 |
The
904 GTS is one of the finest aesthetic achievements of Ferdinand
Alexander Porsche. It marked a great step forward in the history
of Porsche. Set in train by Franck Tomala, the firm’s technical
manager before the young Ferdinand Piëch took over at the end of
1964, the 904 GTS, following in the footsteps of the old four-cylinder
spiders, proved to be amazingly versatile.....

Porsche 804 |
 |
The
tank's thin aluminium skin contains 145 litres of fuel when the
main and additional tanks are full. The tubular frame is rather
like a birdcage. The battery is flanged on at a point next to your
clutch foot. Whereas Dan Gurney cut through the wind with his entire
upper body, I was deep within the cage, and when I look at the pictures
of Gurney in the cockpit, I am bound to reach the conclusion that
the driver's size and weight was obviously not yet a decisive factor...

Porsche 911 Targa Prototype |
 |
Porsche’s
new 911 Targa will be radically different from all Targas built
before. Unlike older models, the new Targa will get a glass roof
from front to rear which opens electrically and slides over the
rear window. Luckily there isn't anymore such a thing as a manually
operated roof section to be removed and stored in the private cellar....

Porsche 911 Turbo "S" |
 |
Porsche’s
new 911 Targa will be radically different from all Targas Despite
what was written in other articles published in various magazines,
the car shown here is not the Porsche 911 GT2 but an even more potent
version of the 420-HP 911 Turbo, badged the Turbo “S”. Not only
has our photographer listened to the sound of the engine while it
was speeding over the legendary German Nürburgring race-track (and
clearly identified the drivetrain as a turbocharged engine)....
