A Happy New Year to you all.
And we start by focusing on Bentley’s V8–powered Continental GT — as driven by John Simister for this week's newsletter.
While not completely 'out with the old, in with the new', the latest Bentley seems to be capable of achieving just about everything the W12 can do, but so much more efficiently. You can now go another 40 per cent further on a tankful of fuel yet – mph–wise – still run in the high 180s.
It sounds brilliant (and you can hear the noise it actually makes, as a download, in the story). In John's other Bentley piece, he's at Silverstone, strapped alongside Guy Smith in a 2001 EXP Speed 8 Le Mans car.
This clearly does make an infernal racket and goes like the wind (as any decent racing car should). With talk of the great British manufacturer considering a return to long–distance racing, what better excuse to install a super–frugal, highly powerful Bentley V8 in the back of a Le Mans car than the launch of the latest eight–cylinder for the road?
