EDITORIAL

As I'm in the final stages of packing for California, I'll leave any further musings on Monterey until I return in two weeks, goggle–eyed and thoroughly auctioned–out.

Getting some beauty sleep on a long–distance flight is always a problem for me. And then on arrival there are the first few days of time-difference (eight hours in this case) that play havoc with the finely balanced movement of my body clock.

The car aficionado's equivalent of counting sheep (choosing 10 cars for the ultimate garage) usually does the trick, as does selecting an era from the Le Mans 24 Hours and debating which car you'd drive.

I know my limits, so if a 917 is probably a little ambitious, why not a privateer Porsche or Ferrari GT, such as the yellow car I drove last weekend? The delicious contrast of actual rather than virtual Ferrari driving, though, is that the last thing you would do in this car's seats is go to sleep.

Charis Whitcombe will be in the Editorial chair next week, and I look forward to meeting many of you at Pebble.
