Okay, so what's been happening this week? It's been holiday time for many of us around the world, but Mercedes has now 'officially' revealed the fabulous SLS AMG Roadster, and Audi has launched an A1 Clubsport Quattro Concept at the Austrian Wörthersee VW event. Bet that got the guy ropes vibrating as it started up.

And speaking of camping, I expect many of you will be shaking the spiders out of the Primus and packing for next weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours. It remains one of the world's greatest sporting events (motorsports or otherwise) and I'm greatly looking forward to a very early start (well, perhaps not that bit) on Friday and a serious drive to La Sarthe that day.

Yes, it's likely to be another heavyweight slugging contest between the diesels from Audi and Peugeot. I'm not quite sure about the longitudinal 'fin' this year, though — it's something to do with stopping the cars flipping over at the very high speeds for which the circuit is famous.

Whatever they might look like (and the event has seen some weird creations over the years), they don't half go. And the racing's been close, too, despite the colossal factory spend by the German and French factory teams. Roll on three o'clock, Saturday 11 June.
