Classic Inside 36/2010

EDITORIAL

The subject for this week's editorial picks itself: the all–new Bentley Continental GT. While remaining 'reassuringly familiar', the new design is as fresh as a daisy.

I particularly like the sharper edges, courtesy of the 'Super Formed' aluminium panelwork. The more vertical grille seems to suit the car's shape better, and the steeper face on the bootlid recalls bigger 'grand' Bentleys.

What's really exciting is that, at some point in the model's lifecycle, the Crewe company will introduce a high–output, brand–new V8. Not only will this look after the planet, it will also make longer journeys possible without refuelling, and imbue the car with some of the famous, eight–cylinder Bentley character.

The world will see the new car at the Paris show in a few weeks' time, while the motoring press should be behind the wheel by the end of the year. We cannot wait.
