Welcome to the all–new ClassicInside. No 'facelift' for us, with just a spoiler here, a headlamp there. Oh no. It's totally new: more streamlined and with much–safer–in–the–event–of–an–accident panelwork all round.

This is in advance of next week's Geneva motor show, where Porsche will launch an all–new Cayenne. With some sort of irony, the embargo on the press material was yesterday, the very day that Hummer turned up its toes.

You cannot get two more controversial models in today's environment, from the, er, 'environmental' aspect, that is. Porsche, which makes the hugely successful and tremendously enjoyable Cayenne, has addressed the issue head–on and will sell a hybrid from Day One, as well as petrol versions with much better fuel economy.

And Hummer? Well they didn't, and haven't, and are consequently no more. Ho–Hum(mer).
