EDITORIAL
I enjoyed watching Woodstock on TV the other night. It's 40 years since the Woodstock Music & Art Fair (to give its full title) was held at Max Yasgur's 600–acre dairy farm at Bethel, New York. There has been a flood of CD releases, TV programmes and newspaper articles on what was probably the peak of the Flower Power movement.
Great bands and a superb film with editing by — among others — a young Martin Scorsese. It's a bit of a feat of endurance (225 minutes for the Director's Cut) but terrific stuff; and not without some two– and four–wheeled interest for the Classic Driver reader.
Naturally enough there's a hand–painted, flowery American yellow school bus. And a few VW campers. There's also a good smattering of 1960s British motorbikes from BSA and Triumph that do look rather cool.
However, 10 minutes or so in, as the stage is (quite literally) being set, a pretty girl is filmed driving a white Porsche 911 through a perfectly lit country lane.
An enduring image. Nowadays, the great German company is all technology and efficiency, with gym programmes, driver fitness and aerodynamics taking precedence over the romance of the road.
You can read about the latest Porsche 911 GT3 RS in this week's ClassicInside. Obviously, it will be fantastic — but, right this minute, I'd take the simple 1960s original. I think it's known as living the dream.

Gooding & Company at Monterey 15 — 16 August
$50,759,350 — not bad going for a couple of days' work, eh? I would add a healthy 'ahem' to that statement, as David Gooding's team put in a colossal amount of work before, during and after every Pebble Beach sale.

Bugatti 'Sang Bleu' at Pebble Beach
Pebble Beach played host to the latest of Bugatti's 100th anniversary celebrations, with the unveiling of the 'Sang Bleu' — a one–off Bugatti Grand Sport combining carbonfibre and aluminum in place of the more usual coupling of two paint colours, or paint and a contrasting material, to highlight the two-tone design.

We are very happy to have another of these super little Ferraris for sale This example has a super history dating from 1988 when well known collector Victor Gauntlett bought her. At that stage she had been rebuilt by Mill Lane Engineering. Subsequently she passed into the hands of the Drambuie Collection in Scotland.
In the 1990s she was, as evidenced by invoices maintained by Official Ferrari Agents, a 'no expense spared' car. The same is true in this Millenium, with invoices from Moto Technique again verifying lavish care and attention to detail. She presents gloriously and drives in a very spirited fashion - in fact she is probably the most zippy Dino we have run for quite a while. She has only covered 9.500 miles since being completely rebuilt and is truly a Dino for the connoisseur
