EDITORIAL

Until the photos come back from Boots, you will have to wait for my review of last weekend's British Classic Car Meeting at St Moritz. Suffice to say that I don't think Luís Moya, Arne Hertz or Henry Liddon would have entirely approved of my co–driving skills... but I enjoyed myself — so there.

I haven't had a chance to see the new Jaguar XJ in the metal but the British company is clearly staking a lot on it. Dynamically, the outgoing XJ was brilliant, and the 2010 version promises to improve on that with more up–to–date styling and even better performance.

Current trading conditions aside, Jaguar is clearly on the ascendant and I look forward to next week's road–test car, the latest–generation diesel XF.

The new 'big' Bentley will be revealed at Pebble Beach this year. The latest news from Crewe includes a wonderful opportunity to buy once–in–a–lifetime parts and accessories direct from Bentley in September, and a video from the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Derek Bell is at the wheel of the Continental Supersports and it's riveting stuff.

All this — and more — in this week's ClassicInside.

Of the twelve second series competition cars, chassis 9041 is one of the only four right hand drive, long-nose examples built by the factory. With a lightweight body and chassis, a 250 LM type dry sump engine, a close ratio gearbox and a magnesium transaxle to further save weight, chassis 9041 was destined for Le Mans in 1966 but, after a last minute withdrawal, was sold through Luigi Chinetti Motors of North American Racing Team (N.A.R.T) fame.

Today, this highly original competition Ferrari 275 GTB/C is the result of a stunning restoration that has recently featured on the front cover of 'Cavallino' magazine.
