EDITORIAL
Aston Martin and Ferrari; two of the most evocative names in the world, and two manufacturers fiercely proud of their tradition and history. For the last few years we have had a May saleroom bonanza, as Bonhams (Aston Martin) and RM Auctions (Ferrari) have conducted one-make auctions at Newport Pagnell and Maranello.
2009 is no exception, and in this week's ClassicInside we bring full previews of both events, with the opportunity of perusing all the motor car entries in the Classic Driver car database. With all the financial shenanigans of the last year, it's going to be a fascinating couple of weeks and I look forward to attending both auctions.
And then, of course, we have the Monaco sales from Bonhams Europe and Coys later that month.
Interesting times.
Also in this week's edition is just a teeny–weeny view of the new XJ saloon. The current model is highly rated in the Classic Driver office so, with some all–new 'clothes', we believe that the 2010 car will be a winner.
Finally, did anyone out there think that Rolls may resurrect the 'Ghost' name for its new car? That's what the Goodwood–based company has decided upon and I hope to receive a visitation at some point in the future, as it's an impressive car.
