EDITORIAL
In writing this, I'm trying desperately not to look back at last year's Geneva show editorial. I'm sure we would have commented on the plethora of hybrid, bio–fuel and generally environment–friendly kit. Okay, there's loads of that this year, too, and I do not intend to knock it as 'the environment' is here to stay.
Or not, if you believe the more extreme global–warming lobby.
The tuners — a dubious 'highlight' at Geneva in the best of times — did look rather silly in 2009. Colossal chromed rims on gazillion–horsepower Cayennes finished in paintbox colours are definitely 'out'.
If, however, you cast a glance at the proper manufacturers, there's plenty going on: Ferrari had the innovative 599XX, Aston Martin the One–77 carbonfibre masterpiece and Bentley its FlexFuel, 204mph, 621bhp Continental Supersports.
Ever one for the modest life, one of my personal highlights was on Maserati's stand. It was 'blue' (the carbonfibre, that is, but manufacturers now refer to anything 'green' as, er, 'blue'), remarkably compact and — purchase price apart — extremely reasonable to run.
Yes, in the spirit of saving the planet I'd go for the latest Maserati racing bicycle.

Chassis 09363 is eligible for a variety of historic motoring events and is eminently usable, at once possessing spectacular performance with fantastic looks.
Perhaps Jean-Pierre Beltoise said it best: "It is, first and foremost, a serious and comfortable gran turismo, but it retains the lineage of a race car in the response of the engine and the quality of the handling. The 275 GTB/4 is one of the greatest automobiles created in our times."
