EDITORIAL
All over the world, bags are being packed, Alka–Seltzer supplies replenished and air tickets checked: the motoring press will be descending on Geneva in force next week. They'll be thirsty, hungry and won't be taking prisoners.
Given the raft of new model announcements in recent weeks, it does beg the question, "So what's going to be actually new?" Well, we'll be there and I've every expectation that there will be genuine novelties, as well as the opportunity of seeing all these new announcements in the metal.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves — check back on Classic Driver during the week for the latest Geneva news and photo–galleries.
My upper arm muscles are just recovering from perusing the magnificent The Brothers Rodríguez book. Such is the size, it's not something you can pack away for a holiday read.
But for anyone interested in the cars, the 'scene', and an often terribly sad story of a family name synonymous with magnificently hard driving: this is the book for you.

The extraordinary prototype of the roadgoing Porsche 962 C.
Just three of these Schuppan 962CR's were built in 1994 by VSL - the racing facility of race car driver Vern Schuppan. It is based on the dominant Le Mans-winning Porsche 962 race cars which Schuppan succesfully raced and owned with his team.
At a purchase price of over $1.5 million in 1994 they are among the most expensive vehicles ever sold new.
The carbon-tubbed 962CR weighs only 1,050 kg and uses the Porsche 3.3 Litre Type-935 engine borrowed from the IMSA GT Championship 962s - with twin KKK turbochargers and offering up to 600hp.
The prototype was constructed from the finest materials available at every stage, and with a claimed top speed of 230 mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.5 seconds, it is in every sense of the word a true Supercar.
Assembly took place at the VSL race and production facilty in Buckinghamshire, England and funding was provided by Japanese investors who primarily supported Schuppan's race team running in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship. They were specifically created as a tribute to Vern Schuppans victory in a Porsche 962 at Le Mans 1983 24 hr race - the pinnacle of sports car racing.
An incredibly rare prototype.
