EDITORIAL
In true Classic Driver tradition, we have a generous mix of new and classic car stories this week.
Under the 'classic' banner, it was my great privilege to get behind the wheel of one of my all-time favourites: the Ferrari 250 GT SWB. And, when considering new cars, how about a vision for the future that you can buy today — the Tesla Roadster?
The latter is powered by electric motor and our tester is quite enamoured with it. Unsurprisingly, given the technical input received from the British company, it's very 'Lotusey'; which doesn't do much for me, but there you go.
We've also the first of what will, no doubt, be many concepts and debuts at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show, the MINI 4 x 4 that will — in some form or another — be in the showrooms in a year or so.
Finally, do read Will Edgar's moving piece on the late, very great, Phil Hill: a wonderful driver, a true car enthusiast and, most of all, a kind and considerate human being.

Ferrari 250 GT SWB Recreation: A Fast Drive in the Country
It's the image of Willy Mairesse in a full–on drift in one of these cars back in 1960 that's always done it for me: pure aggression mixed with a certain feminine delicacy that is the ultra-desirable 'SWB'.

Truly remarkable (and possibly unique) example having covered just 8,694 miles from new with a mere four owners - the last being John Coombs (of the famous Coombs-Jaguar racing team).
First delivered to Jaguar USA New York (hence odometer in miles) and imported/registered in Europe in 1998 (documented). Sold to Coombs at Bonhams' Monaco Auction 2004. UK registered in 2008. Just stripped to bare metal and expensively resprayed/rechromed.
Freshly serviced with new MOT. Totally original trim with working Motorola radio, original spare wheel with Dunlop RS5 tyre, original tools and rolls.
A true 'time-warp' in absolutely exquisite condition with driveability to match. Sold with Jaguar Heritage Certification, Bonhams' auction catalogue etc. Unrepeatable!
Works hard-top, new 72-spoke chrome wire wheels with Pirelli P400 tyres, luggage rack (not fitted).
