EDITORIAL
I don't know, I go away for a few days and Rolls–Royce reveals some dreamy sketches of its forthcoming smaller car, while Ferrari tantalises us with more shots of the California, the metal–topped convertible due for debut at Paris, later this year.
The Rolls–Royce RR4 (its in–house appellation) will most likely be 7–Series in dimensions with a totally new powerplant engineered by master engine–builder (and R–R parent company) BMW. It's difficult to read too much into the sketches. As always, car–makers wish to keep potential buyers 'on–side', as it were, ensuring that their wallets remain firmly shut until the order book proper opens.
I said 'dreamy'; perhaps I mean 'shadowy'? Now, there's a thought, how about 'Shadow' for the name of the latest car from Rolls?
You heard it here first.

Delivered to the USA in 1957, with early competition history (ran in the 1958 SCCA Production Championship). Re-imported to the UK in the 1980s.
Full ground up restoration and right hand drive conversion finished in 2002 for only its 5th owner from new. Body completely refurbished by highly respected Ace specialist David Sanderson. Bristol 100D2 engine fully professionally rebuilt. Chassis stripped and restored. Suspension/drive train rebuilt using new components. Diff./gearbox overhauled by Hardy Engineering. New overdrive fitted. Rack and pinion conversion - original LHD steering box goes with the car (together with other original spares). New fuel tank. New stainless steel exhaust system. Total re-trim with new hood, side-screens and tonneau cover. All work fully documented, with invoices and photos, plus original US title etc.
The rebuild was completed in time for this Ace to be a participant in the 2002 AC Owners Club International meeting in Italy, which it finished successfully without incident. Since then, this car has been driven to meetings in Switzerland (twice), Luxembourg, France and in 2007 a tour of Sweden. Total mileage since restoration c. 12,000. An absolutely superb example of the Marque, eligible for the Mille Miglia and all other important International Historic events.
We can readily re-convert to its original left hand drive if required.
