EDITORIAL
It's all very confusing. One minute everything's green, and now it's all brown. I'm referring to car colours, so I suppose it should really be 'brown is the new silver' or something, but it's difficult to resist an eco-reference at motor show time.
So, at Geneva, on the Ferrari stand there was a new selection of brown leather interiors, plus browny-grey metallic paintwork. Aston Martin followed suit with a Cocoa metallic — plus chocolate interior — V8 Vantage in its 'private' viewing area. And so on, culminating in the magnificent Bugatti Veyron Fbg by Hermès with its café au lait paintwork contrasted with a black that seemed to have, well, a hint of bronze to it.
What next? A return to the tracks for the hue, first seen on the Hexagon of Highgate F1 Brabham in the 1970s? Honda didn't do very well in 2007 with a car painted in the livery of the Earth, so perhaps they should go one step further and try the colour of earth itself.
