EDITORIAL

After last week's European travels, it was back to London again for a week that included an entertaining evening at the launch of the new Segrave Club. Set in what many people will remember as the Victor Gauntlett–era Aston Martin showroom in Cheval Place off the Brompton Road, the evening certainly went with a swing.

In pride of place upstairs — with the Club's fleet of Ferraris and Lamborghinis relegated to the basement area — was Golden Arrow, Sir Henry Segrave's 1920s land speed record car. It must have taken a 50–point turn to get the behemoth off the narrow street and into the Club, but this pales into insignificance when you contemplate the gigantic machine trundling along at an average speed of 231.446mph.

In Andy Green's speech, he pointed out that the giant tail section was used as an aerodynamic aid, countering the tendency for the car to steer one way or the other. Should it suffer an excess of 'right–hand–down', the mechanics would set–to with mallets and hammers to tweak the profile accordingly.

It would certainly give today's Formula 1 teams something more to think about, with the option of dialling–in more 'fin' added to that of more 'wing'.

mileage 24.000 km / 14.913 mi
price 39.995 GBP
country

This is a another dream come true for us here, our very own 1968 Maserati Ghibli 4700 Coupe. This is still half the price of a Daytona for a much cooler car! We can honestly say this may be your last chance to buy a nicely Restored LHD Manual for this kind of money.

Our car has the Black Leather interior and it is in a very nice condition. The cabin is a wonderful place to sit and wonderfully evocative of the sixties.

The car has a new MOT - Controle Technique - and is ready to show this summer and enjoy.

This is a special car in a number of ways, the colour scheme is perfect, the mechanical and general restoration work carried out means it is an absolute pleasure to drive and own. It is Dutch Registered but can be registered anywhere without problems. We honestly believe the Ghibli to be criminally undervalued at present and the next couple of years will see this proved correct! The Coolest Car on the road today!
