EDITORIAL
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, despite the talk of economic uncertainties I think we have a bumper year in front of us. From a historic racing perspective 2008 has the luxury of two biennial events: the Le Mans Classic in July and the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique in May, a couple of weeks before the Grand Prix proper.
There'll also be two super Goodwoods, the Diamond Jubilee of Jaguar's XK, the usual marvellous events held in Monterey in August, and many more.
Contemplating a grey day in Britain, it's hard to imagine the clink of ice cube in glass, while overlooking an azure Mediterranean with some serious brrm, brrm-ing in the background. But bear with winter's dullness, it only makes the spring and summer that much more welcome.
And I know many of you will be enjoying polo on the snow, as well as skiing, tobogganing and winter rallying. Classic Driver is a broad church, after all.
Happy New Year to all of you.

Coys is delighted to offer the very first right-hand drive 365 GTB/4 Daytona coupe to be delivered new to Great Britain. Originally imported by Maranello Concessionaires, it was sold by John Coombs & Sons (Guilford) Limited to Dick Wilkins, then Dunlop's racing manager, on May 8th 1970.
Chassis 13271 was specified new in Rosso Chiaro with black leather interior trim, light grey headlining, Cromodora alloy wheels and a tool kit.
With still a mere 28,000 miles recorded, the 365 GTB/4 remains in wonderfully unmolested original condition, without a single hole drilled or modification made to the original specification anywhere on the car. It comes with its original owner's handbook, dealer directory and service books and the original wallet in which they were contained, together with the now rare and valuable tool roll and even two sets of original keys on a Coombs key ring.
This therefore represents a truly unique opportunity to acquire a totally original and un-restored, and low mileage, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and one which is documented as being the very first example of one of the mostly highly prized of front engined Ferraris to be delivered new to Great Britain.

The car started life in 1965 with chassis number GT40P/1004 and ran at Le Mans in that year entered by the well known privateer entrant, Rob Walker with Bob Bondurant and Umberto Maglioli to drive.
The car retired early on despite showing great speed. The car was then put into storage and in 1968 brought back into service by the JW Automotive Gulf team and built to the same specification as the famous double Le Mans-winning car, chassis number 1075.
For the Spa 1,000km race it was driven to fourth place by Paul Hawkins and David Hobbs in atrocious wet conditions.
After its retirement from the Gulf team the car had two long-term private owners. After meticulous preparation the car ran in the 2007 Goodwood Revival meeting driven by Jean Marc Gounon to second place in the Whitsun Trophy.
The car is eligible for all pre-1965 events and is a highly competitive and front-running car with the added bonus of being one of the incredibly rare Gulf team cars.
A highly unique opportunity to acquire such a famous ex-Gulf team car.
