Editorial

Golly, it’s all happening. In the next three weekends we’ll be visiting the Nürburgring 24 Hrs, the Le Mans 24 Hrs, the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the concours at Maranello that will be the climax of the Italian company’s 60th birthday celebrations. Oh, and there’s the Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone this weekend too, as well as the usual summer races, concours and tours worldwide.

The average bee, forever engaged in honest toil, would probably buzz ‘Enough!’

We’re having none of that and will endeavour to give you reports on all these events, including the Le Mans Legend historic race that takes place on the morning of the main event. As you can see below, this race has been enlivened by the addition of no less a driver than Sir Stirling Moss.

Never a winner in period, he drove so many competitive cars he could have succeeded several times, finishing second twice and usually setting a pace that broke many a rival team’s cars, their drivers succumbing to the ‘red mist’ that is just what you don’t need in long-distance racing.

For those of you likely to be present in France over the Le Mans weekend, do look out for the familiar white helmet and straight-arm driving stance of the ‘Maestro’.
