Editorial

New year, and a superb new design from Jaguar that will no doubt, productionised and simplified a touch, form the basis for the next generation S-Type (though it’s unlikely to carry the outgoing car’s moniker). As the latest XK carries a hint of Aston Martin about it so does the C-XF, with its high rear haunches and slingshot rear door and side window treatment.

I’m not convinced about the grille, I’m getting a trace of Subaru here, but overall it’s a great package and very much in line with the forward-thinking coupé and convertible rather than backwards-looking XJ, S- and X-Type.

Rolls-Royce has put everyone out of their misery by launching the Phantom Drophead Coupé at Detroit, a productionised version of the cabriolet doing the rounds at shows and high-profile meetings over the last couple of years. It will no doubt be a storming (in the rarefied world of £260,000 cars) success.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
