Apple have a fiendishly clever (Beta at the moment) feature on the iTunes Music Store. Based on your purchases it works out what you may wish to buy in the future. It’s a bit like Amazon’s ‘People who bought XXXX also bought YYYY’. It throws up some horrible selections that any self-respecting music lover would run a mile at, and invokes a degree of navel-gazing “I can’t be categorised as the sort of person who’d like that! Can I...?”

It’s a bit like well-meaning friends and relations saying “Stephen likes cars – I expect he likes that one” (and it’s probably either a refugee from Genevieve or a Panther De-Ville) . Well don’t bank on it matey, you never quite know what I may be into and it’s my business anyway say I.

But, like the iTunes Store, a dip into the Classic Driver car database can reveal some absolute corkers that had slipped off the edge of your radar, and now they’ve surfaced, you know what? You really want one.

We cannot compete with the instant gratification of a downloaded song, but I hope we’ve something to stimulate the brain cells a little.
