Editorial

Welcome back after our short summer break. We’ve an early report on Pebble Beach 2006 and hope to follow this up with an overview of the auction and racing action next week.

Next Friday will of course be the opening day of the 2006 Goodwood Revival. As always I’m really looking forward to this, having my appetite well and truly visited by seeing one of the front-running Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy Celebration entries just emerged from some serious restoration and race preparation work, and you can read about this highly desirable car in the feature on DK Engineering below.

And talking of highly desirable GTs the day’s driving I had in the Factory ‘30,000 Mile’ V8 Vantage was tremendous fun, and sharing the drive not only made it slightly easier on the concentration but also a chance to debate the merits of the small coupé, argue over the route (not really, the sat-nav was spot-on), admire the scenery etc, etc. I understand it was washed the very nice next day in order for an important trip to the continent – I trust my signature is still on the roof!

Hoping to see you at Goodwood next week, until then.

Ferrari 275GTB/4

5 speed, leather, full history, restored, Matching Numbers

After spending its early life in Italy, this left hand drive car was sold to South-Africa in 1973 where it remained until recently. In 1982 the recent owner became the fourth owner of this car (South Africa). The car has always been meticulously maintained and received a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration in 2003 by the local Ferrari agents. Only the interior was mostly left as is, as it was in exceptional condition and the owner wanted to preserve this aspect of its originality.

The car was then flown to Italy in 2004 to partake in the official 40th Anniversary Celebrations of the 275 model, organized by the Ferrari factory. The car was recently sold to a U.K. owner, who now wishes to sell to upgrade his collection. The vehicle is on its way from South Africa to the USA, here by September.
