Editorial

Ahoy there me hearties! I don’t know what Lord Nelson would have said if someone had placed the latest carriage-and-four on the poop deck of the Victory. Something suitably salty no doubt with the broad breadth of language that is always the sailor’s.

Capitano Basile and the crew of the good ship Guiseppe Garibaldi, an aircraft carrier of the Italian Marina Militare, are clearly a more pragmatic collection of tars and welcomed the arrival of several Lamborghinis – including the Murciélago LP640 – with the cool aplomb of men familiar with handling guided missiles and jet fighters, the combination of which in road-going form may well be latest flagship from Sant’Agata.

You can read all about the car–and–carrier story below with some wonderful photographs courtesy of Lamborghini Magazine.

There’s also a review of a great book about James Hunt featuring the memories of those closest to him. What’s revealed is an extremely complex character, a supremely talented sportsman and highly intelligent individual driven to excess through a personality no-one was really able to fathom out. And for those of you who buy these books for the photos there are some crackers, with bare chests, blonde tousled hair and swimwear that should have carried a health warning.

And that’s just the men.

Looking forward to telling you all about this weekend’s Vingt Quatre Heures du Mans. Until then, steady as she goes!
