Editorial

A few laps with Walter Röhrl in the new Porsche 911 GT3 at the wheel at the Venetian circuit of Adria, and then a short hop in the driver’s seat westwards towards Lake Iseo, the traditional home of the world famous Riva ‘wooden’ powerboats, is my idea of heaven.

And if you combine two stories below that’s exactly what you get although, strictly speaking, come this June the Rivas will be in Venice itself in the form of a meeting of owners and enthusiasts from all over the world. Having – in a previous existence – attended one of these events, I can recommend it to anyone appreciating the finer things in life and I can’t think of any fancier of all things four-wheeled who does not appreciate the style and workmanship of the millionaire’s speed boats bar-none.

The new GT3 sounds (literally, I would imagine) fantastic and proves once again that getting a mere mortal – although no disrespect to our correspondent - alongside a professional racing driver in a fast car on a circuit is a sure-fire way of impressing the press.

Aston Martin followers will like next week’s Classic Inside. Until then.
