Editorial

The dust having settled on last week’s Geneva launches, it’s now time to wait for the exciting new cars to be available for the press to sample. Classic Driver was one of the few publications invited to a sneak preview of the latest incarnation of the iconic 911 Turbo and neither it (nor the wintry weather) disappointed.

Yet again it shows that in terms of practicality and intergalactic performance, the blown Porsche can take all before it.

Castagna had knocked us all out a couple of years ago with their timbered estate versions of the MINI. This year they’ve made a stylish ‘Tender’ in the spirit of the ‘wicker basket’ chopped Fiat 500s, as well as a luxury 4 door. If the jury’s out on the retro-styled saloon (but not for long, and I’ll wager the judge will be reaching for his black cap as they return...), the ‘Tender’ is a fun car from a company making some nice bespoke extras for these super-successful classless cars.

We’ve included a summery racing shot this week just to remind you all that springtime will soon be upon us, and as the sap rises, most enthusiasts’ minds turn to thoughts of outdoor sporting events like the Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic – reports on all of which we’ll be bringing you in months to come.
