The clock has been turned back twenty-odd years, with similes aplenty quoted by our correspondent evoking scenes of Miami past from celluloid and the small screen. The reason? Lamborghini’s choice of venue to launch the Gallardo Spyder, a car universally described as not only gorgeous to look at, but fabulous to drive and packing a revised V10 with 520 HP thus getting one over on arch-rivals Ferrari.

The choice of colour is perfect too. The pearly dazzling white is a hue meant for ‘hot’ locations, and I mean that in both senses of the word. The colour takes on a brilliance of its own under blue skies and blazing sunshine, and if the party action’s good too – well all the better.
