Editorial

A bit of a new car theme to this week's 'Classic Inside'. There's news on two of our favourite 'daily drivers', the new Audi A6 Avant and MINI's incorrigible Cooper S, plus there's the first of what I hope will be many 'Classic Driver Readers' Cars', a beautiful DB5 from Holland. There's also a 'must-have' for the school run, Volvo's XC90 PUV (that's Power Utility Vehicle) with its crazy 650bhp engine. Only in America as they say.

The interest in the Aston Martin DBR9 must have broken all records last week, and with its appearance on British national television last Sunday the British company just needs to separate 32 potential owners from the estimated £475,000 each it will cost to buy one of these cars and they should take all before them.

As you read this I should be in Northern Italy, on the final stages of an autumnal journey from the UK to the heart of Italian supercar production, delivering a Maserati Gran Sport to its birthplace in Modena. Yes, I know it's a tough job but someone's got to do it and there's a full report to come next week.

Anyone would think it's my birthday.
