Editorial

The next time you come upon a friend's coffee-table groaning under the weight of some glossy car books, check to see if there's a copy of the Phil Hill Ferrari tome reviewed below. The publishers should have produced it in two parts; the (beautiful) photos as an album, and then the prose in smaller format for easier reading. Dipping in and out of it, one is amazed by the depth of recollection, perception and description the American former World Champion gives to the subject. It wasn't just dangerous on the tracks at this time; it was pretty risky just getting to and from the circuits. Thoroughly recommended.

No such troubles for our intrepid road tester of Ferrari's latest four-seater, the 612 Scaglietti. 'Piano-Black' is a nice description of the car's colour and with a simple black and aluminium interior it looks very classy. Fit for a concert pianist in fact.
