Editorial

A competition theme to this week's Classic Inside.

We were fortunate enough to be invited to the official launch of the re-formed Ferrari UK racing team this week, now known as Team Maranello Concessionaires. I thought the tone of the evening was a successful balance between nostalgia and modernity, and have no doubt that forty years ago Messrs Sears, Piper, Salmon et al would have looked as keen a team as that collected by Veloqx Motorsport in 2003. Of the original Team drivers present Richard Attwood, Grand Prix driver of note for BRM and Lotus in period, was looking forward to single-seater racing this weekend, and the completion of his BRM restoration for enjoyment later in the year. Let's hope the current team retains that enthusiasm four decades on.

Goodwood have announced plans for their two world-class events this year, the Revival and Festival of Speed. Yes, it's said every year, but this time it looks once again that the Goodwood team have surpassed themselves, and the quality of the entry for the Festival in particular, looks superb. Celebrating the 10th year of the Hillclimb past Goodwood House, the idea has been to get the very best entries of those ten years and distil them into one meeting. Space limitations are such that we cannot possibly list all the vehicles planning to come, suffice it to say your editor would be delighted to go for the Chaparrals alone; but there are cars a-plenty for all tastes and enthusiasms.
