Team Classic Driver at the Oldtimer Grand Prix: The title defence

This coming weekend will see the famous Team Classic Driver Holman and Moody Ford Fairlane do battle once more at the Nürburgring AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix. As overall winner in 2010, the Team is defending its title.

Every August the AvD Historic Marathon is run over the notorious Nordschleife and modern GP course at the 'Ring. With a grid that combines Italian exotica, fast and reliable Jaguar E-types, lightweight Lotuses and 911s, it’s a tough challenge for ‘Fred and Barney’, the regular drivers of the 500bhp Fairlane.

The pairing has a plan, though. “The Fairlane is a simple car... but not quite so ‘simple’ in the bends. So, on the straight we drive the car, and in the curves we let it drive us.” The onboard video from last year gives you an idea of exactly what they mean:

The AvD Historic marathon starts at 14.30 on Friday, 12 August, and marks the start of the weekend of historic racing. For 2011 the organisers have extended its running time by half an hour to a total of four hours. For a full list of entries, please see www.avd.de/ogpracing.
