2007 will see the debut of the new Alfa Romeo 8C, and to celebrate that the Milanese company will be closely associated with the the fifth running of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo revival event.

Alfa Romeo has chosen the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale as the symbol of the 2007 revival; this car was designed by Franco Scaglione and built in a very limited series from 1968, specifically to make the technological advances of its racing cars available to a wider public. The 33 Stradale was one of the most expensive and exclusive cars of its day, a real privilege for a chosen few!

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will leave the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese together with other famous Alfa cars, including some Alfa Romeo 8C. Fans will have the thrill of seeing some amazing cars which have made motoring history, as well as the history of typical Italian style. The event will also include the third Alfa Romeo Trophy.

This touring and regularity rally, considered Milan's "own" event and organised up to 1973 by the Milan Automobile Club, that is now behind its revival as an event, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006. The centenary of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo has prompted the organisers to undertake some extensive historical research, made particularly difficult because the historical archives of the Milan Automobile Club were destroyed by a fire during the war. For this reason, an email address ([email protected]) was created to collect any useful information; and anyone with information and photographs is invited to contact this address.



The historical section of the www.milano-sanremo.it site has already been enlarged as a result of research that is giving its first fruits. For example, one of the well-known figures who took part in 1939 included a very young Gigi Villoresi!



The Participating Cars and Their Teams

Along the 400 kilometres of the itinerary from Milan to Sanremo, via Rapallo, Genoa and along the Riviera dei Fiori, there will be a number of splendid cars, representing numerous different makes, many of them from Museums and private collections, and of great historical value.

The organisers, MAC Events and Meet Comunicazione, who finalised the details of the event some time ago, can confirm that a number of extraordinary cars will be present, many dating to before the war, as well as journalists from the major papers.

New Features in Genoa And Sanremo

At the end of Sunday's itinerary, which will include lunch in Genoa, in the beautiful Sala del Maggior Consiglio in Palazzo Ducale, and the new route that the cars will take from Recco to Genoa, Sanremo will welcome participants in Piazza Colombo in the centre of town for the final parade, and not on the seafront, closing the streets to ease the transit of the cars and to simplify the conclusion of the event.



Bosch And The 2nd Revival of The Ladies Cup

Bosch has confirmed that it will sponsor the second revival of the Ladies Cup which the Milan Automobile Club first organised in parallel with the Coppa Milano-Sanremo early in the 1950s. A large number of ladies teams, many from abroad, have already enrolled for this rally, which promises to be very competitive.
