Live from the saleroom: 'Von Krieger Special' 540K Mercedes sells for $11.77m


One of THE cars of the 2012 Monterey-week sales has a new owner. Gooding & Co. hammered the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster down for an extraordinary $11.77m (hammer price, ex. buyer's premium).

It was another new World Record, this time for a Mercedes at auction, and the highest price paid for a car this Pebble Beach week.
