The Paris-based auction house has just announced that its forthcoming Rétromobile sale will include several, highly desirable GTs from the 50s and 60s, the most significant being the ex-Roger Vadim 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Spider California, in recent years part of the Jean-Claude Bajol Collection.
Vadim, the famous French director, producer and screenwriter, who discovered and later married Brigitte Bardot, had bought the car from new. It soon became a familiar sight in Paris and St Tropez.
The French collector Jean-Claude Bajol, who died earlier this year, was an important Ferrari collector in France and had owned all the ‘greats’ (‘Comp’ SWB, TdF and 250 GTO). The long-wheelbase California Spider was the remaining ‘big’ car in his collection. It comes complete with hardtop and is described as being in “immaculate condition”.
Other Bajol Collection cars to be offered in Paris on Friday 3 February 2012 include a 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT (320,000 – 420,000 euros) a 1964 Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder (200,000 – 300,000 euros) and a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’, at 240,000 – 280,000 euros.
There are also two significant Lancias, the 1958 B24 S Cabriolet, for 180,000 – 220,000 euros and the 100,000 – 140,000 euros 1964 Flaminia 3C 2.8-litre Zagato.
